TO FIGURE REAM WEIGHTS AND
M SHEET WEIGHTS

FORMULA:Sq. Inches Area of Paper Size x Sub. or Basis Weight= Ream Weight
Sq. Inches Area of Base Size

For Writing Papers and Index sheet sizes smaller than 336 sq. inches- compute ream weight to 2 decimal places (disregard all numbers after the second decimal place). Sheet sizes 336 sq. inches and over compute ream weight to nearest one half pound. Double to obtain M sheet weight.

For Opaque Circular, Book Papers, Text and Cover, sheet sizes 187 sq. inches or less - compute ream weight to 2 decimal places (disregard all numbers after second decimal place). Sheet sizes over 187 sq. inches to 864 sq. inches - compute ream weight to nearest one half pound. Sheet sizes 864 sq. inches compute ream weight to nearest full pound. Double to obtain M sheet weight.

Fractional weights between:

.0 to .24 - to nearest half pound (20.24 lbs. becomes 20 lbs.)

.25 to .74 - to nearest half pound (20.62 lbs. becomes 20 1/2 lbs.)

.75 to .99 - to nearest half pound (20.85 lbs. becomes 21 lbs.)

When figuring to two decimal places, drop all fractions more than two places.
(Example - 10.378, not 10.38). First, figure ream weights, rounding off properly, then double for M weights.
